Essence of Carrot Cake

Goat Rodeo Brewing is not afraid to dabble in the realm of the unknown when it comes to beer. With that in mind, I took my mother's carrot cake recipe and adapted it to the brewing process and the rest is history. A nut brown ale as the base with cascade hops, carrots, raisins, toasted coconut and walnuts, vanilla extract, a stick of cinnamon, and lactose (to serve as the "icing"). Release date- mid March. Alcohol %- 7.

Chrysomallo Katsika

Chrysomallo Katsika is Greek for Golden Goat. Why go Greek? Why not? Golden Goat is a beer inspired by the land of the Golden Fleece. It is an American blonde ale, with a Hellenic touch of grapes, walnuts, and laurel leaves (the source of bay spices). The sweet goodness of the Greeks is moderately bittered by a dash of Willamette hops. This premier beer of Goat Rodeo's southern affiliate will have an ABV of 6-7% and should be ready for consumption in March - the month that is in like a Lion, and out like a Goat.

Chocolate Coffee Milk Stout

Like many Americans I start my day with a cup of coffee. Like many Americans I have a sweet tooth for chocolate. Like many Americans I drink milk...gotta keep those bones strong. And like many Americans I enjoy beer. Just so happens this American decided to put all of that in the same vat. Mocha Moo Milk Stout will be ready in the middle of February for those Americans that like all of the above just like me. Prosit!

Pitbull Pale Ale

Goat Rodeo Brewing's first beer is going to be a pale ale, much like the inaugural brew of our predecessor MNG Brewing. Pitbull Pale Ale is a mixture of both hopped and unhopped pale malt extract with both wet and dry hopped amarillo hops and cascade hops (dry). It will have a 5.4% ABV and be unleashed in the first week of February. Cheers!

IPA

In the beer world, IPA means India Pale Ale and is my favorite style. MNG's latest offering is just that and goes by the name of Instigator Perpetrator Agitator. It's an IPA brewed with nugget and cascade hops. Alcohol content- 4.7%. Release date- mid January.

Eager Beaver

In the mood for a creamy dark bock? If you are, then MNG's newest brew will please your palate. Eager Beaver has all the niceties of a typical bock, along with creamy brown unhopped malt extract added to it with honey, cinnamon, ground clove, and pumpkin spices. Its aroma is reminiscent of holiday desserts. Although the beaver may be eager, it still has to go through the entire fermentation process and won't be ready to gnaw on your wood until mid January.

Suicide Series #1

Remember when you were a kid and would mix all the flavors at the soda fountain? SUICIDE was what we called it, and in homage to those glorious times of yesteryear we introduce MNG's Suicide Series. #1 is a mix of wheat and Vienna lager malt extracts, along with raspberry pomegranate green tea and apple cider. Codename- Helter Skelter, and there's only one 12 oz. bottle in existence and therefore will be held until both MNG North & South can share it (hopefully in November).

The Yellow Devil

What do you get when you mix a wheat beer with lemon zest, lemon juice, and lemon pepper? Amarillo Diablo - aka - The Yellow Devil. This wheat beer is not the timid, sit on your porch and sip on a hot summer night type. No, this one will bite ya. Nutmeg, sweet gale, and cascade hops jumped in the vat for the ride as well. Coming to steal your soul in mid December.

Russian Imperial Stout

Autumn is a upon and winter looms. What better way to warm the soul than with a creamy smooth Russian Imperial Stout. Black Velvet is just that, with blackberries, star of anise (black licorice), black peppercorn, and some cascade hops. This beer will be ready for consumption in mid-December.

Hybrid Series

MNG Brewing isn't your regular run-of-the-mill craft beer making outfit. No, we dare to go where others can't even fathom. This never ceasing mindset to push the boundaries of beer styles and flavors has lead us to our Hybrid Series.

As you might be able to conclude from this beer's name, it is a combination of an unfiltered wheat and pomegranate/raspberry flavored tea (green tea to be exact). Both hopped and unhopped wheat extracts were used, along with the aforementioned tea (made from tea bags), and spices such as sweet gale, clove, paradise seed, and coriander. It will likely have a reddish hue, taste sweet and bready, and have a fruity nose. Release date set tentatively for mid-October.

ViennApple LagerCide:
A combination of a Vienna Lager (Marzen/Octoberfest) and apple cider. Additives- molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, sarsaparilla, vanilla extract, apple juice, and granny smith apples. Alcohol content is likely to range from 5-6%. Release date also mid-October.

...And We All Fall Down

Autumn (aka- Fall) is just around the corner, and with that in mind MNG has concocted a brew to warm the senses. Not to mention, with its 7.5% abv it might just make you a bit tipsy. If you drink beer, you've been there...and we all fall down.

And We All Fall Down is a dopplebock brewed with honey, grape jelly, juniper berries, nutmeg, and cascade hops. It should be ready around Halloween.

Blissful Surrender

MNG Brewing continues to delve deep into the unknown lands of brewing mystique. Our latest venture is a combination of milk stout and Vienna lager with mellow amber extract added to it for body. The alcohol level is fueled by hard dark candied sugar and should clock in at roughly 9%. Its name- Blissful Surrender. The crazy ingredient of this beer is not the cinnamon or Cascade hops, but he peanut butter that was infused into it. The aroma was like malty peanut butter fudge. This will most likely be a dessert beer and be ready sometime between the middle of October and November.

Black & Tan

Yuengling's Black & Tan (half porter, half premium) is a deliciously unique beer, and an IPA or stout causes the mouth to instantly water like Pavlov's dog. Therefore, MNG has combined these intensely popular and vastly different flavors to create a Black IPA (half stout, half IPA).

Twisted Black IPA has whole leaf Cascade hops, coriander seed, and paprika added to it which should provide an nontraditional zing. This brew will be ready near the end of August with an alcohol content of roughly 6%.

A Taste of the South

MNG Brew Brothers are at it again with yet another collaborative masterpiece. Inspired by a recent corporate retreat to the Uwharrie Mountains and the splendid discovery of sassafras, MNG North and South came together to make this stout that that will turn out to be a true "root" beer.

Being that the hot days of summer are nearly upon us, we are reminded of lazy times spent sipping on root beer floats. Southern Sassafras Stout was designed with these memories. It has an oatmeal stout base, with the main ingredient being sugary-sweet sassafras tea. And just like quality root beer is made with genuine ginger and sassafras root, Southern Sassafras Stout blends these natural ingredients with vanilla extract, honey, root beer liquor, and a kiss of chocolate.

This beer will be bottled in mid-July and ready for consumption toward the end of August. This truly inspired brew should have an alcohol content around 5.5%, and it should have a smooth dessert-like finish.

Carolina Caraway

Stop! Collaborate and Listen...

For the first time ever, MNG North and South have bridged the Mason-Dixon Line and created their first collaborative brew that should prove to be one of their most unique to date.

Carolina Caraway is an out of this world experience using Pluot Fruit (a hybrid of plum and apricot), Savory spice, molassess, brown sugar, and for namesake, Caraway Seed. First of all, Pluot is a bizzare blend of apple, cherry, and peach flavors on the palate; add in the pungent aroma of savory, and spice the blend with a flavor reminicent of rye found in the Caraway seed, and an instant classic is born. This beer should clock in above the 7% mark. This earthy brew will be due for consumption in mid-September.

We Will Not Conform

Here at MNG Brewing we pride ourselves on outside-the-box innovative brews. Our latest offering is true to our form in that I guarantee you've never had anything like it before. Nonconformist is a mix of Canadian Draught and Red Ale malt extracts along with a hodge-podge of ingredients. Strawberry preserves and honey were added for a touch of sweetness. Cascade whole leaf hops are in there for a bit of bitterness to help finish off the taste. Juniper berries, cinnamon stick, dried elderflower, and Indian sarsaparilla round out the spice notes. Then the surprise additive of Srirachi hot chili sauce heats things up. This will be a unique beer for sure, coming in at an alcohol content of roughly 6.5%.

Baseball & Brew

Baseball and beer go hand-in-hand here in America and it was high time that MNG Brewing extend their gift of brewing to the baseball community. The lucky recipients were the loyal readers and bloggers of a well established Philadelphia Phillies site called We Should Be GMs.

The beer's name, Phantastic Philsner, was the voted upon winner out of several submitted entries. The beer itself is best described as a classic pilsner with fruity aroma from Nelson Sauvin and Challenger hops with a sweet twist of Indian Sarsaparilla. Original brew date was May 4th, so it will be ready right in time for the 4th of July.

HEXAGON

Hexagon is a labor of love. This heady brew is the result of many hours of research and planning. It started as a simple desire to blend tarragon and apricot into a Golden Lager, then evolved into a six-ingredient behemoth of a brew. After studying the art of blending spices, I decided to expand the flavor of this brew to include marjoram, bay leaves, and savory spices, with the sweetness of honey. Its aroma is remenicient of sweet, rich tobacco and it will be a delicious, mead-like, flavorful beer. Bottling will take place in early June, and will be ready in July.

In other news, Blonde over Blueberry is bottled and will be ready for consumption in mid-June. The intent is for it to make its debut when both northern and southern affiliates meet here in the humid south.

The Bitterer the Betterer

My favorite style of beer are Indian Pale Ales (IPA's). So, why the hell hasn't MNG brewed one yet? Well, the day has finally come. We're unleashing Better Bitter 2XIPA in late June. The beer will boast 80+ IBUs and clock in with a slightly above 7% alcohol content; it is cosidered a double-IPA. For extra flavoring a dash of cloves were added along with dried elderberry flowers for scent.

Hebro Mojo

Today MNG Brewing whipped up a batch of a Belgian Wit, with tangerine, coriander, and juniper berry. This beer will be ready just in time for the beginning of summer in June. Its name- Hebro Mojo.

Other news:
Big Daddy Brew was bottled today, but not in the regular 2 liter bottles. Nope, we broke out the bottle capper and did 22 12 oz bottles. Beer smells and looks great, but will be left untouched for the next 5 months. It's going to be difficult to fight the urges to sample prior to that.

There's rumor the Southern affiliate is ready to do another brew as well, so stay tuned.

Blonde Over Blueberry

The Southern Affiliate would like to welcome Blonde Over Blueberry to the MNG family of brews. In the South, we are close to our families, so in that tradition, the brewing of this beer was a family affair, as my brother was introduced to the beer brewing process. A springtime blonde ale, Blonde Over Blueberry is a seductive blend of blueberry, basil, and a kiss of the piny-citrus flavor of marjoram. Smooth and sultry, this beer will entice and enthrall the sense of taste, leaving you wanting only more. This brew will be ready to bottle by mid-April and for consumption by late May.

In Other News:
I recently received a shipment of Redrum, Sweet Novacaine, Coffee Break, and Hard Day's Night. Redrum was insanely delicious and I am going stark-raving mad craving for more. The Southern Affiliate will also be brewing a tantalizing tarragon apricot concoction to be ready for the humid days of early summer.

Big Daddy Brew

MNG Brewing is proud to announce their first foray into the strong ale style in the form of Big Daddy Brew. This beer is going to be sneaky with its 10% alcohol content because of its smooth sweetness and gentle aroma. Big Daddy is a mix of an American Blonde Ale and Golden Lager with pale and amber extract added for richness. The nose will be a hint of allspice and lemon zest. This is going to smell like a summer beer and at first taste like one too. Of course once the high alcohol percentage takes hold, you'll be wishing for a cool summer's breeze and a hammock for napping. Big Daddy will be ready for bottling in about a month, but will remain in the lagering stage for about 5 months until the beginning of September to allow time for all the flavors to meld.

Other news:
RedRum Red Ale is down to the final 2 bottles.

Sweet Novacaine has been taste tested and it is a success. The hops come through at first with the aroma of licorice, but then finished semi-sweet and earthy. Satisfying beer overall.

Lazy Day Lager is set for bottling next weekend.

Code Name: Quad B

In little over a year, MNG Brewing has toasted some tasty brews, but none tastier than Big Bad Brown Brotha Ale. In honor of our second year of existence we are revisiting our crowning achievement of the beer-o-sphere, but this time it will be Bigger Badder Browner Brotha Ale- Code Name: Quad B. Extra malt, honey, and molasses will make Quad B stronger (estimated 8%), darker, sweeter, and more delicious than its predecessor. Due to high gravity of wort mix, lagering will take a minimum of 2 months in the bottle, so release date is set tentatively for end of April.

Updates: Hard Days Night (Pale-Pale Ale) and Coffee Break (Oatmeal/Chocolate/Espresso Stout) on February 12th.

Lazy Day Lager

MNG Brewing welcomes Lazy Day Lager to the beer family. It is sweetened with honey, brown sugar, and orange zest. The flavor profile doesn't stop there, as crushed allspice was added for a needed zing and UK Challenger hop pellets for the tang. Release date will be mid-April.

This past weekend, on February 6th, Sweet Novocaine was bottled for conditioning and remains on track for a early March unveiling.

2 Beers are Better than 1

MNG Brewing has big news as the Northern affiliate has once again expanded, to what is now 3 vats. That's a total of 5 beer vessels between MNG North & South. Production began today with the arrival of the new vat, and in it goes a double pale ale named Hard Day's Night. This beer is a traditional American pale ale with extra body that ups the alcohol content which will be perfect for a night after an exhausting day of labor.

Meanwhile, RedRum Red Ale was bottled and remains on track for a mid-February release. The brew master decided to kick it up a notch for the lagering phase by adding pure cane sugar instead of the regular priming sugar. This should add a nice sweetness to the finished product.

Once RedRum's keg was sanitized, it beckoned for filling of another delicious concoction. Its insides were satisfied with an oatmeal stout infused with chocolate and a dash of pure cane sugar. When it's time for bottling, a shot of espresso will be added to each bottle to give it a jolt. This is how the beer got the name Coffee Break.

Hopefully MNG South will be announcing a brew or two in the near future, but for now, just wait with mouth-watering anticipation.

One more note- a special one time only beer was created by "accident". Hoppy Holidays and Cracked Nutter each were down to their final bottle respectively with about 8 ounces left in each. What happened next is mind-blowing...they were mixed for an over-the-top Christmas brew that was legendary but to likely never be experienced again. If this combination beer were to have a name it would be Crazed Christmas.

Beer- The Sweetest of Novacaine

With the holidays come and gone, MNG's reserve is practically empty. All that remains is a bottle here and a bottle there, but Spice of Life, Thin Mint Stout, Hoppy Holidays, Punisher Porter, Don't Fear the Pepper, and Cracked Nutter are all but extinct. Fear not beer lovers, Redrum Red Ale will begin the lagering phase of its brew-morphosis next weekend, with a possible coffee chocolate oatmeal stout on the way. Let's not forget the reason for this update though, as MNG is pleased to announce Sweet Novacaine is in the vat.

Sweet Novacaine is a golden lager with fig preserves, honey, stars of anise, and German hops added to it. The beer will be ready near the beginning of March.
