Summer beers can be pretty boring in my opinion. Usually nothing more than some wheat, light spice, and lemon flavors. That's alright, but here at Goat Rodeo, we like our beers a bit more flavorful. Therefore, we juiced up the mash tun with a heaping amount of wheat then doused it with some booming hops in the brew kettle. Wanted to keep the ABV low for mass consumption (aka - sessionable), registering an easy-going 4.3%. Copious amounts of Amarillo and Citra were used during the brewing and then a blend of Mosiac, Simcoe, and Citra dropped in for dry-hopping. Bodacious tropical fruit aromas abound and flavors follow. It's fruitilicious!

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This is a decadent concoction of honey, fresh pressed farm apple cider, brown sugar, sweet orange peel, and cinnamon that was fermented with a sweet mead/wine yeast. The style is known as a cyser, which is a mead and cider hybrid.

The nose is that of cider, with mostly apples and sugar aromas. The flavor is the same upfront, but quickly changes to a wine-like finish (think grapes and lemons). The alcohol is evident, as the ABV is 12.6%.
Dimwit, Halfwit, Nitwit is a Belgian Wit (aka- White Ale) brewed with bitter orange peel, coriander, Tettnang and Warrior hops, and true Belgian Wit yeast. This beer was brewed for the purpose of party libations at the 3rd Annual Man Weekend at Camp Pocahontas. At 4.8% ABV, it's light and refreshing, and perfect for a hot August day. Fight For Your Rye To Party is a hopped up Roggenbier (aka- Rye Ale). Coming in at 96 IBU due to a heavy dose of Polaris, Centennial, and Amarillo hops. Dark Belgian candi sugar, brown sugar, and seeds of paradise were added to the rye grain, and pale and wheat malts. Flavor is complex, with upfront spice from the rye and citrus in the nose from the hops, but finishes bitter sweet. During my recent beercation, I stayed with some awesome people, drank some great beer, ate some scrumptious seafood, and brewed a Belgian Quad. This beer goes by the name of Quadsimodo. It's extra special because it will be halved into a Turkey Shore rum barrel for some further aging. That version will lovingly be referred to as Drunken Quadsimodo.
Summer is awesome. Beach, vacation, pool, bikinis, cookouts, baseball, no school, air conditioning, etc. All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately, Labor Day weekend signals the setting of the summer sun, and the dawn of the harvest moon. This beer wants to hold on a wee bit longer. It's a German style wheat beer brewed with Barvarian wheat, German Hallertau hops, and a Munich wheat yeast. It's an easy drinking summer classic. Light bodied with a smooth finish. Keg's unveiling will be held on none other than Labor Day weekend for the picnic goers at our "silent partner's" house
Goat Rodeo Brewing loves hops. We salivate of the thought of hops. We yearn for hops. We want to bathe in hop water. We worship hops! Yet, we still haven't brewed a good India Pale Ale. That streak ends now with the introduction of Gila Hop Moster, an Imperial IPA brewed with tons of hops that should give off a floral, citrus, and grapefruit aroma. It has a sweet malty backbone, so that the bitterness of the beer won't overwhelm the palate.

Grain - carafoam and crystal.
Malt Extract - golden light (both dry and liquid) and maltodextrin
Hops - Columbus, Cascade, Citra, and Centennial (2 oz of each/8 oz total)
Yeast - White Labs liquid California Ale Yeast
Corn sugar added to boost alcohol content.
It's been awhile since Goat Rodeo Brewing has been in action, but we're back with something special in the vat. It's a red kolsch ale, that will be fermented at lager temperatures for roughly 3 weeks. German pilsner is the base malt with crystal, chocolate, and carafoam grains used as well. The featured hop is one of my favorites- cascade, both for bittering and aroma. This brew is lovingly named after the Goat Rodoe family's dog- Chunk, and dammit he is super!

Goat Rodeo brewing was ready to embark on a new adventure and somehow the journey drove us straight to a cyser. A what? A cyser! A cyser is a cider-mead hybrid. Cleverly named Bumble Bear Cyser, it is brewed with apple juice, Granny Smith apples, honey, pure vanilla extract, molasses, dark candy Belgian sugar, cinnamon stick, dark brown sugar, sarsaparilla, and some of Captain Morgan's spiced rum Tattoo. Goat Rodeo Brewing typically attempts to brew "big beers" as in flavor and alcohol content. Sometimes the palate just wants something tasty and tame. Therefore, we've decided to do a session ale for those days when you want to drink a sixer or so.

Now and Later Gator is half an IPA malt extract mix with a little dark candy sugar, dried elderberry flowers, basil, and sarsaparilla added for some nice spice notes. This should be well balanced between malts and hops. Release date- mid August. Wheat ales are typically light on the tongue, refreshing, with some fruity notes and low in alcohol, but not this one my friend. This is Wicked Wildebeest Wheat Wine and it's a blend of grenadine (cherry syrup), honey, lemon zest and juice, ground coriander seed, sweet gale, whole allspice berries, ground nutmeg, and grains of paradise. Release date - end of August, right in time for Labor Day. ABV - 9.5%.
Why go Greek? Why not? Golden Goat is a beer inspired by the land of the Golden Fleece. It is an American blonde ale, with a Hellenic touch of grapes, walnuts, and laurel leaves (the source of bay spices). The sweet goodness of the Greeks is moderately bittered by a dash of Willamette hops. This premier beer of Goat Rodeo's southern affiliate will have an ABV of 6-7% and should be ready for consumption in March - the month that is in like a Lion, and out like a Goat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1230702779101759023.post-66000424226424262372011-12-11T16:30:00.002-05:002011-12-11T16:35:52.553-05:00Chocolate Coffee Milk Stout<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 375px; height: 375px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6O3zn1yYJXUIe0uszfRT10IXa-S3kEwr7-h80uznFbb_c7lftNJAL6WIiaMlwoqr0iviSigh6mWm1bhBN2VBT6NPG-nEXRa0nCD3QcIxJzsgQxCAZd8MgW5HbffNNO6eqiDjwWk9OsFM/s400/mocha+moo.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5684987360846450930" />
Like many Americans I start my day with a cup of coffee. Like many Americans I have a sweet tooth for chocolate. Like many Americans I drink milk...gotta keep those bones strong. And like many Americans I enjoy beer. Just so happens this American decided to put all of that in the same vat. Mocha Moo Milk Stout will be ready in the middle of February for those Americans that like all of the above just like me.
